What are employers doing differently during the games? Are they instituting different work hours, changing office hours, updating their vacation policies, etc?

Strategies used by employers will vary depending on: type of business, location, perceived opportunity, motivation and resources.

The 2010 Commerce Centre has drawn on lessons learned from previous Olympic Games in Sydney, Salt Lake, Torino and Beijing to create the 'Game On 2010' information that will help companies to develop their own unique 2010 business strategy.

That information is at: Game on 2010.

When will it no longer be advisable to hold conferences in Vancouver because of the 2010 games?

Starting in the middle of September 2009, portions of the Vancouver Convention Centre will become off-limits and will increase through to December 2009 until large conventions are put on hold until after the Games. For hotel sized conventions, it is different depending on the hotel - 100 to 350 person conferences/conventions could be held in the city through January without too much difficulty but these will need to book be earlier than usual.
