My Business 2010
Q.
Where can I find information on different types of Games related business opportunities?
A.

The types of business opportunities related to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are numerous and come from a wide range of buying organizations. It is estimated that the value of direct spending will be in excess of $4 billion and that major infrastructure projects will create another $3 billion in related opportunities in British Columbia (B.C.).

The 2010 Commerce Centre publishes a list of business opportunities to help businesses identify:

  • Direct Opportunities – businesses can become a supplier or licensee to the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), a supplier on a competition venue construction project or on some other aspect of 2010 Winter Games operations.

  • Related Opportunities – being a supplier to a member of the Olympic Family, such as sponsors, National Olympic Committees, the BC Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Secretariat, 2010 Legacies Now or one of the official partner or sponsor organizations.

  • Major Infrastructure Projects – being a supplier or subcontractor on a major infrastructure project, such as the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project, Canada Line Project, Vancouver Airport expansion plans and Sea-to-Sky Highway improvements.

  • Major Events – being a supplier or subcontractor for one of the many related sporting or cultural events, such as the 2008 North American Indigenous Games, the 2009 World Police and Fire Games, the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

The 2010 Commerce Centre allows businesses to receive the latest Games-related business opportunities by email, browse through current and past bids, identify winning bidders they may want to contact for subcontracting opportunities, and explore future business opportunities.
