    Do you have any documentation or advise on what has happened in other downtown markets during Olympic periods. I am wondering specifically if historically the media tend to push the public to stay at home or away from the downtown core by suggesting it will be too congested.

    Vancouver is the largest city to host an Olympic Winter Games, and we expect up to 135,000 ticket holders and 60,000 additional visitors in Vancouver every day. We also do experience periods of congestion on a typical day in the City. Historically, Host Cities do implement plans to reduce vehicle traffic so that athletes can get to their events reliably and that people and business in the area can move efficiently. In Vancouver, we have a definite need to reduce the number of cars coming in to downtown by about a third (one in three cars). The message is to come downtown and enjoy the experience, but to take an alternate mode of transportation to get there. Read more>>
