The VEC is hosting a delegation from Beijing’s Hanhai Zhiye Investment & Management Group this morning to establish a foundation for the development of a technology commercialization accelerator – The China Canada Clean Tech and Environment Technology Accelerator – here in Vancouver. A “Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of an Innovation Centre in Vancouver” will be signed to mark the occasion. A roundtable discussion on the prospects of Vancouver joining their global network of technology accelerators will take place after the signing ceremony.

Hanhai Zhiye, a Chinese conglomerate formed in 2013 and headquartered at Galaxy SOHO in Beijing, consists of high-technology industry experts, scholars, overseas graduates and thought leaders from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University, and Stanford University. Its main focus is on science and technology park construction.

In attendance will be a delegation from Hanhai Zhiye Investment & Management Group, which includes representatives from Twenty-one Century Investment Group, CanFit Resources Recovery Technologies, Inc., Beijing Qingshui Ecological Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd, Sino Environmental Protection Engineering Corporation, Henan New Future Investment Inc., and Canada Hanhai Investment Ltd.

The Vancouver stakeholders will include representatives from Foresight Clean Tech Accelerator Centre, Canada China Business Council, Industry Canada, BCTIA, BC Innovation Council, Simon Fraser University, Dentons, Ministry of International Trade, HQ Vancouver and more.

The VEC looks forward to working with the Hanhai delegation to develop this exciting initiative.
