August 18 deadline - potential $500,000 opportunity for companies to test their beta stage innovation by Government of Canada
Announced in the 2010 budget, the Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) is a new $40 million Government of Canada pilot program that aims to promote innovation and support the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in Canada.
The goal of CICP is to help bridge the pre-commercialization gap by purchasing innovations through a series of Call for Proposals. The maximum funding allowed for each proposal is $500,000 (GST/HST and shipping extra). The program targets innovations in four priority areas: environment, health, safety & security, and enabling technologies.
The first Call for Proposals (CFP) was completed last fall and resulted in 27 pre-qualified innovations. The second call has been posted on MERX with a closing date of August 18, 2011.
