Ottawa unveils $6.2 million in economic development funding for Olympic projects

VANCOUVER - Ottawa has unveiled $6.2 million in funding for five projects that hope to take advantage of the economic opportunities provided by the 2010 Winter Olympics. Minister of International Trade Stockwell Day announced the funding during a press conference Friday in Vancouver. Day told reporters the federal government wants to maximize the economic benefits of the Games and is ready to showcase the country's commercial strengths to draw greater investment. The Vancouver Economic Development Commission will receive $800,000 in federal funds to develop a program that attracts foreign investment.
