VEDC introduced a delegation of prime contractors and system integrators from Virginia, U.S. to an impressive array of British Columbia technology and IT sector expertise last week.

On February 26th and 27th, a delegation of prime contractors and system integrators from Virginia, U.S. were in Vancouver seeking suppliers of innovative technologies specifically related to the security, wireless, and health IT markets. Over the course of two days, the delegates were exposed to an impressive array of British Columbia technology and IT sector expertise. Day one involved face-to-face meetings with pre-selected B.C. companies, a business luncheon, and a welcome reception dinner. Day two involved a UBC lab tour organized by the industry liaison office.

The event was successful because of collaboration among federal, provincial and local economic development professionals. VEDC played a critical role in arranging the program's key elements, including a plenary partnering session and introducing local businesses and public officials to the U.S. companies.

Feedback from both B.C. and U.S. firms has been very positive; as a result of the collective effort, a number of licensing agreements are anticipated to be finalized over the coming months.
