As the City of Vancouver’s agency for economic development, the Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC) works to position Vancouver as a globally recognised city for innovative, creative and sustainable business. We do this by strengthening Vancouver’s Tech, Digital Entertainment and Green Economy sectors through strategic programs and initiatives that address each stage of the business growth continuum. The VEC’s work includes advising business leaders; connecting businesses to talent, capital and markets; and promoting Vancouver as a premier destination for smart talent, capital and business.

In order execute on this work more effectively, the VEC is implementing a new, customized CRM database. This database will house information on all of the VEC’s key contacts, organizations and initiatives and will be an essential tool in conducting day-to-day operations. To ensure the database is utilized to its full extent, it must be populated with clean, accurate and robust data. The Data Entry Coordinator will take ownership of the data collection, cleaning and entry process and will work hard to populate the database in an efficient and timely manner. The role will report to the VEC’s Research and Engagement Strategist, with the opportunity to coordinate/collaborate with other VEC staff members as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple spreadsheets of data, including inputting new information; updating outdated information; merging repeat records; and uploading into the CRM database
  • Work within the Salesforce CRM database to enter new data and update old records
  • Research accurate values for missing or outdated information using online resources
  • Collaborate with VEC staff to obtain any missing pieces of information for database records
  • Perform cross analyses of data to ensure minimal duplication
  • Coordinate a process for gathering various contact lists, building-out the information and uploading it into the CRM database
  • Develop best practices for data maintenance
  • Analyze work to ensure data input procedures were performed accurately
  • Provide regular updates to the Research & Engagement Strategist on project progress

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience performing data entry, maintaining databases, or similar activities
  • Solid experience with MS Excel
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve proactively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Analytical nature
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM (or other databases) an asset
